Life Sciences Incubator Masterplan

A new home for a burgeoning research community.

Neil Stroup Architect worked in collaboration with Design Method Architecture to develop a comprehensive masterplan for an existing laboratory incubator campus. Working with the client and key tenants, the team developed a plan to provide a new building with much-needed life sciences laboratory space for new small firms. With its narrow floor plate, the building allows for more green space on site, provides greater access to daylight, and connects users to the beautiful surrounding landscape.

Reducing the building’s embodied and operational carbon footprint was a key goal. The team explored mass-timber structure, which offers significant embodied carbon savings over traditional steel and concrete construction. Advanced daylighting and building systems were explored, including an extensive ground-source heat pump system.
